CACG 2019 Cheese Camp Application

Calling all cheesemongers, distributors and members of the cheese trade!

The California Artisan Cheese Guild is thrilled to offer you the opportunity to attend its 2019 Cheese Camp, two immersive days of farm and creamery visits and tours in Sonoma and Marin Counties. Join us for the chance to meet and learn from some of the country’s most knowledgeable cheesemakers, see their herds, barns, makerooms and aging facilities, and, of course, taste an array of California’s delicious, award-winning cheeses.Cheese Camp will also give you the chance to spend time with several of your fellow industry professionals who, like you, are working hard to support our makers and build a market for California cheeses.

What are the details?

Arrive Sunday, May 5 at 4 p.m. at Tomales Farmstead Creamery, home to a beautiful farmhouse that will be our Cheese Camp homebase.

Depart Tuesday, May 7 at 4 p.m. from Tomales Farmstead Creamery.

We expect to visit 8-10 creameries and farms over the course of Cheese Camp. All housing, meals and local transportation will be provided as part of the event. Please note that you will need to provide your own transportation to and from Tomales Farmstead Creamery.

Please also note that Cheese Camp accommodations in the farmhouse are fairly communal. Rooms will be double occupancy with shared bathrooms. All campers will be randomly assigned a roommate of the same gender.

What are the requirements and how do I apply?

In keeping with its educational mission, the Guild is able to offer this extraordinary experience for $100/person, but space will be limited and we are asking that those who are interested apply to attend. Completed applications must be received by the deadline of 5 p.m., March 26, 2019.

Applications will be screened and participants will be selected by the CACG Cheese Camp Committee. Selected participants will be notified by April 5, 2019.

Participants will agree to allow pictures and feedback on their experiences at Cheese Camp to be shared with the CACG newsletter and at the CACG Annual Meeting upon completion.

All applicants must be employed as cheese professionals and have at least one year of professional cheese experience to apply. They must also be members of the California Artisan Cheese Guild or work for companies that are.
