A celebration brought together by a lively and friendly group of experts and presenters from the wonderful world of artisan cheese. The festival promotes broad awareness of the artisan cheesemaking community and enjoyment of its products.
The California Artisan Cheese Festival is a nonprofit organization with the mission to educate people who want to learn more about artisan cheese, support the artisan cheesemaking community and its sustainability, and celebrate and enjoy the creations of the artisan cheesemakers. This year’s 3-day Festival includes Farm & Creamery tours, educational seminars/tasting, a Cheese Crawl (like a pub crawl) and a fabulous Marketplace with over 100 artisan producers!
In 2019 the California Artisan Cheese Guild entered a formal partnership with the California Artisan Cheese Festival. Founded in 2006, the Guild is a statewide 501(c)6 nonprofit organization of cheesemaker, cheese industry and, and enthusiast members who work together to support California cheese. Guild members work to keep a traditional craft alive, to preserve flavors unique to our region and to protect valuable working farmland in a densely populated state. The mission of the California Artisan Cheese Guild is similar to that of the Festival: to celebrate the quality and diversity of artisan cheeses produced in California, through partnerships, outreach, and education.
Through its educational offerings, the Festival helps consumers better understand artisan cheeses and their advantages over non-artisan cheeses. It also shows the wide variety of artisan cheeses available and the flexibility with which they can be used. The Festival’s marketplace event on Sunday gives the cheesemakers and other artisan producers an excellent opportunity to showcase and sell their cheeses direct to the consumer.
