ABOUT BELLWETHER FARMS:

Family owned and operated, Bellwether Farms produces in beautiful Sonoma County, California. We are passionate about providing the very best yogurts and cheeses from cow and sheep milk. Bellwether Farms was started in 1990 and was the first sheep dairy in the US established west of the Rockies. From our humble beginnings in farmers markets and local restaurants, our yogurts and cheeses are now available throughout the country. We work directly with our suppliers to foster regional family farm dairies and to source the highest quality milk available.

You are a vibrant and industrious person who can work independently and enjoys seeking out new challenges. You are particularly passionate for health-conscious and artisanal foods. You have experience working with or within grocery stores and are a skilled communicator.

In the role, you will manage our portfolio of yogurts within the Northern California territory. This “road warrior” will be visiting retailers to build partnerships and cooperatively problem solve. This role will oversee both independent and regional accounts while nurturing relationships with distributors and brokers as well.

As an ambassador for Bellwether Farms within its home region, your role is crucial in forging strong ties with local retailers and expanding our shared business. You will act as the eyes and ears of the brand in marketplace.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage relationships with current accounts, including visiting retail customers regularly.

• Sell in new product lines, fill voids in the current assortment, advocate for better shelf placement, and ensure promotional execution.

• Ensure that merchandising components are thoroughly completed.

• Communicate brand and product information to retail team members for product pitches, team member trainings and customer education efforts.

• Collaborate with internal team members on regional initiatives and events to ensure success.

• Represent the brand for in-store demos, tradeshows, or other marketing opportunities.

• Keep detailed records of account action items and progress, report to management accordingly.

• Act as ambassador for the brand and participate in field marketing events as needed.

• Spend 80% of the week in the field visiting accounts.

• Willingness to work on select weekends as needed for events and demos.

• Reliable vehicle and no major traffic violations.

• Must be able to consistently drive to accounts throughout Northern California.

• Maintain and submit weekly travel reports and mileage.

• This role reports to the Director of Sales.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years in Natural/Organic/Specialty food and beverage industry.
  • Experience with dairy and/or specialty products preferred.
  • Ability to make presentations coupled with excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to make presentations coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in email communication and familiar with Microsoft Office and/or Google Docs applications

Education:

  • High School Diploma, required.

80% regional travel expected.  Up to 10% travel outside of region.

Salary Range $45,000 – $75,000 per year DOE
